Deep, ambient meditations.

  • We Say...

Don't be deceived by the title, which evokes the ten-minute-manager mania that swept the business world back in the '90s. While the label heads at Etherean might have wanted to capitalize on that trend, the music is anything but instant karma. In fact, not one track clocks in at ten minutes. The attempt here is to climb Jacob's Ladder — aka the chakra system — starting at the base of the spine with the first chakra and ascending to the crown, the journey from the root to the fruit. The three tracks that comprise The 10 Minute Chakra, "Ladder," "Spiral" and "Helix" are extended, deep, ambient meditations that use rain sticks, gongs, a pulsing heart beat, overdubbed overtones and humming analog synths to create a deep and dramatic healing effect. Things get really interesting on "Spiral," where Weave introduces mini-suites sounded by the deep reverberation of Tibetan bells that echo from one side of the brain to another, setting up an entrainment that synchronizes both lobes. This can be played in a candlelit room with speakers, but for the best and most potent effect, headphones are highly recommended.
