With nine records released over nine years, Animal Collective's ascent has been startling. That growth has been built on two factors: a steady flow of music and a zealous fan base around the world. At times just the duo of singers Dave "Avey Tare" Portner and Noah "Panda Bear" Lennox (as on debut Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished and 2004's Sung Tongs), other times aided and abetted by school chums Brian "Geologist" Wertz and Josh "Deaken" Dibb, Animal Collective's music draws from psychedelic '60s pop, Jamaican dub, Grateful Dead bootlegs, Terry Riley and mesmeric German techno.

With such a propitious foment of music (as well as the EPs, remixes and singles that augment these full-length albums — to say nothing of the live tapes exchanged over the web), it speaks volumes of the band's ears and heart that they never merely surf on successes. By bringing friends, family and fellow weirdoes into the fold via their Paw Tracks imprint, coupled with AC members own various side projects, the group has cast a singular light.

In addition to the studio albums, below you'll find an assortment of kin and kooks that extend, inform or expand Animal Collective's wild kingdom
